Respected professional, forward thinking and highly motivated provider of integrated document solutions using the MS Office suite with 20 years experience of using and applying the software practically to increase productivity, ensure consistency and branding and ultimately aid compliance. From my first use of MS Office in the early 90s to the present day, I’ve utilised the software to improve business processes, efficiency and productivity, the following career profile touches on some of the areas where the MS Office suite has been used, adapted and delivered results.

Mechanical and Electrical Design and Project Manager Royal Engineers – 1995-1998

Part of a 3 man team delivering design and project management to an Engineer Regiment both in Barracks and on deployed operations. Completed operational deployments to Bosnia and Falkland Islands, undertook design and project management for construction of all British camps in Northern Bosnia. Taught CLAIT and IBT to soldiers and their dependants as part of a Forces education programme.

Mechanical & Electrical Technical Planning Officer Royal Engineers - 1998-2001

Managed maintenance and new work undertaken by local contractors and the in-house works service organisation within a large garrison area in accordance with Defence Estates asset management policies and procedure. Taught CLAIT and IBT to soldiers and their dependants as part of a Forces education programme in a large Garrison town.

Senior Engineer Royal Engineers - 2001-2003

Senior Engineer managing a multi-disciplined design team working on all aspects of construction and building services at a busy RAF main operating base. Created numerous interactive tender and bid submission databases with the associated documentation in Word.

Team Leader Mechanical and Electrical Utilities – Royal Engineers 2003-2004

Senior Engineer managing a multi-discipline team specialising in restoration of essential utilities on operations. Created stores inventories complete with linked images to assist in identification of complex parts, project reporting structures used on overseas deployments amongst others.

Manager and Senior Mechanical Engineer – Royal Engineers 2004-2007

Manager and Senior Mechanical Engineer managing a multi-disciplined infrastructure team undertaking, numerous asset management, construction, building services and protective structure work. Deployed overseas, to instigate asset management regimes in both hostile and benign environments, including preparation of tender documentation and subsequent management of local FM Contracts. Set up from scratch a Facilities Management database responsible for the management and control of overseas bases including works order and task creation, all the associated documentation including reports and forms for the workforce to complete as part of their maintenance programme.

Facilities Manager - Royal Engineers 2007

Building Services Manager of a joint military and civilian team undertaking all Asset Management activities including planned and response maintenance, safe systems of work; and new capital works. Preparation of Planned Maintenance Plans and Whole Life costs, drafting, managing and monitoring lump sum and measured term FM contracts. Quality Management System Manager responsible for all aspects of QMS including drafting procedures, training and auditing. Responsible for Computer Aided Facility Management System (CAFM), including data integrity and ensuring asset management standards were maintained. Created document management systems including template repositories to comply with the requirement of ISO9001.

Design Manager for one of the UK's leading M&E Services providers. Responsible for management and coordination of design for both Yorkshire and Nottinghamshire areas of operation. Managed the delivery of design and associated Technical Services activities. Also responsible for drafting and implementation of design management procedures for the business, establishing a formal supply chain of design consultants using MS Access and an integral part of the work winning team compiling proposals and giving presentations to current and prospective clients.

Provision of professional, expert advice and support to bid teams, concession and asset companies at all phases of a project (bidding, design, construction and operational), including engineering competence, clear assignment of responsibilities, requirements management, value engineering, change control, document control, testing, commissioning and handover procedures. Management and delivery of a programme of collaborative engineering risk reviews using structured techniques (eg HazID, HAZOP, FMEA, etc) including enhancing and streamlining existing processes and reporting procedures using MS Excel and Word. Developed and implemented new initiatives such as the Technical Documentation System including training and mentoring of staff (both concession and BBW) to enable concessions to comply with statutory requirements and PAS55. Supported BIM Centre of Excellence activities namely drafting Design and Uniclass Tools for use by BB OpCos and drafting of BIM presentations. Demonstrated BBI’s and concession companies’ knowledge and experience to Clients. Advised on use of MS Office at all levels to improve efficiency of publishing bid documentation.
